Six one-handed spring clamps for holding a template, a story stick, a piece of trim or a tarpaulin. They apply very little force and they apply it instantly, which is exactly the right tool for the large number of jobs that need a third hand rather than pressure.
The tips are vinyl, so they will not mark a finished surface, and they will slide on a slick one. If it needs to not move, this is the wrong clamp and the F-clamp is the right one.

How these were arrived at
Measured with a load cell at the tip, twenty samples, at 68°F. Spring steel loses force permanently if it is held fully open for long periods, so store them closed.

- Finish & variation
- Zinc-plated steel with dipped vinyl. The vinyl will soften and eventually split if it is left in sun or heat.
- Made
- Bars rolled and castings machined in northern Italy; pads, screws and handles assembled and tested here in Pennsylvania.
Care
- Store closed, not clipped over a rail at full opening.
- Keep them out of direct sun — the vinyl perishes long before the spring does.
- Replace any clamp whose jaws no longer meet cleanly when closed.
Cautions
- Not for glue-ups. Twenty-four pounds will not close a joint and a glue line clamped this lightly is a joint that fails later.
- Not for anything overhead or anything that matters if it falls. A spring clamp lets go without warning when it is nudged.
- Not for hot work. The vinyl tips melt against anything above about 160°F and the residue is difficult to remove.
