A through-fixing for solid concrete, dense block and solid brick. You drill through the fixture and the substrate in one pass, drop the anchor through, and tighten — the sleeve expands against the sides of the hole as the cone is drawn up into it.
The load table below is the reason this page exists. The same anchor holds 1,240 lb in structural concrete and 290 lb in aerated block, and there is no honest way to print one number. Read the row for the material you are actually fixing into, and if it is hollow block, use the toggle instead — a sleeve anchor in a hollow wall holds nothing at all.

How these were arrived at
Pull-tested on cured substrate samples, ten per material, at 68°F. Every figure assumes the hole was blown clear of dust before the anchor went in — dust in the hole is the single largest cause of an anchor performing below its rating, and it can cost more than half the load.

- Carbon steel bolt and expander cone, carbon steel expansion sleeve, nut and washer.
- Dimensions
- M10 thread × 90 mm overall, 12 mm sleeve diameter. Requires a 12 mm hole, drilled 100 mm deep. Maximum fixture thickness 15 mm.
- Weight
- 78 g each; 1.6 kg per box of 20.
- Finish & variation
- Bright zinc electroplate, clear passivated, nominal 8 µm. A dry-interior finish — a fraction of the coating thickness of hot-dip, and it is not an outdoor anchor however similar it looks in the box.
- Made
- Cold-formed, hardened and finished at a fastener works in the Ruhr, Germany. Boxed and counted here in Pennsylvania.
Care
- Drill the hole to full depth and blow it clear before fixing.
- Tighten to seat the sleeve, then stop. Over-tightening strips the cone and the anchor is then loose and unfixable.
- Do not reuse an anchor that has been expanded and backed off.
Cautions
- Not for hollow block, plasterboard, lath or any cavity substrate. The sleeve needs solid material all around it to expand against; in a cavity it does nothing whatsoever.
- Not for exterior use in this finish. Zinc plate is an interior coating — outdoors, specify the hot-dip or A4 equivalent.
- Not for overhead safety-critical fixing. Anything suspended above people is an engineered connection and needs a designed anchor, not a general-purpose one.
